Die Casting

KinTech handles all aspects of the die casting process from mold design and testing, to component manufacturing, finishing, and packaging.  With decades of experience in die casting, Source is a leader in technology and skilled professionals to manufacture high quality die castings in the most cost-effective manner with on-time delivery and quality that will exceed your requirements.

Advice on designing die castings is usually based upon desirable practices or situations to avoid and may affect the cost, appearance, and quality of the final part. Dies can be produced for simple and complex parts. Source factories use the latest technologies to ensure superior quality and low unit costs. Our state-of-the-art plant makes use of robotics and other automated processes that provide guaranteed consistency in the finished product.

Die Casting Process

Die casting is a manufacturing method widely used to produce aluminum and other alloy components by pressing the molten metal into reusable steel molds at high pressures. The molds—also known as tools or dies—are created using steel and are specially designed for each project. This allows each component to be created with accuracy and repeatability. Aluminum, zinc, and magnesium are the most commonly used die casting alloys. This process results in the production of parts and components with complex geometries, with high precision, and allows the possibility of large-scale production.

Most die castings are made from non-ferrous metals, specifically zinc, copper, aluminium, magnesium, lead, pewter, and tin-based alloys. Components manufactured with die casting technologies can achieve sharp geometries, smooth or textured surfaces, making them suitable for a wide range of products and applications.

Die casting is suitable for complex geometries with thin walls, as low as 1 mm and with smooth surface finishes, allowing coating or plating as finishing treatments.

Die Casting Capabilities

From Small Batch To Volume  Production

As A Professional Precise tool manufacturer, We provide professional die-casting die design, Pressure die casting is used to make copies of cast parts in aluminum, zinc or magnesium. We offers everything from a single source: Custom Die Molds and Machining die casting parts including all finishing steps. Molds are made in-house from H-13 steel using CNC machining and EDM/wire EDM. With every new project, we look for ways to provide you with the best return on investment.

Die casting is an efficient, economical process offering a broader range of shapes and components than any other manufacturing technique. Parts have long service life and may be designed to complement the visual appeal of the surrounding part. Designers can gain a number of advantages and benefits by specifying die cast parts including high-speed production, close tolerances, dimensional accuracy and stability, strength, multiple finishing techniques and, simplified assembly procedures.

Die Casting Materials

Zinc, aluminum, and magnesium are the three main die casting alloys. They are normally non-ferrous and their mechanical properties vary greatly to fit almost every type of application a manufacturer may need.Different metals are available for casting. Your choice of materials may depend on cost, weight and performance. Here are some tips:

Materials Characteristics Applications

Zinc Alloy

High strength and hardness
Excellent electrical conductivity
High thermal conductivity
Low cost raw material
Ability to cold form, which eases joining
High quality finishing characteristics
Outstanding corrosion resistance
High dimensional accuracy and stability
Excellent thin wall capability
Full recyclability
Complex net-shaped zinc housings, with precise thin walls offer excellent electrical performance and shielding properties.
Our multi-slide die casting process and superior thin-wall capabilities make us the foremost supplier of zinc components for broad range of consumer electronic devices.
The castability of zinc, its wear resistance, and structural integrity make it perfect for the creation of the multi-faceted, highly complex shapes used in automotive safety and electronics industry.

Aluminum

Alloy

High operating temperatures
Outstanding corrosion resistance
Lightweight
Very good strength and hardness
Good stiffness and strength-to-weight ratio
Excellent EMI and RFI shielding properties
Excellent thermal conductivity
High electrical conductivity
Good finishing characteristics
Full recyclability
Aluminum castings improve automotive fuel efficiency by contributing to weight saving requirements.
Aluminum is used in a broad range of networking and infrastructure equipment in the telecom and computing industries because RF filter boxes and housings require heat dissipation.
In handheld devices, aluminum castings provide EMI/RFI shielding, rigidity, and durability with minimal weight.
Because of aluminum’s excellent electrical performance and shielding properties, even in high-temperature environments, die cast aluminum is ideal for electronic connectors and housings.

Magnesium

Alloy

High conductivity; electrical, and thermal
Withstands high operating temperatures
High dimensional accuracy and stability
Exceptional thin wall capability
Good environmental corrosion resistance
Good finishing characteristics
Full recyclability
There are many benefits to casting with magnesium. Not only is magnesium the lightest of all the structured materials but it has excellent stiffness and strength-to-weight ratios. Additionally, it has outstanding EMI and RFI shielding properties, perfect for connectors and electrical housings. It is also utilized for medical and laboratory equipment to provide protection against other interfering signals in a hospital room.

Die Casting Tolerances

We follow the standard general NADCA tolerances. However, if your requirements are very precise, then the precision tolerances standard can be followed once we have confirmed your designs.

Advatages of Die Casting

Die casting can have significant advantages over other manufacturing processes, which often lead to major cost savings, not only in the part price itself but also in the overall cost of production. Die casting is most suitable for casting medium sized parts with complex details.Die-casting is the largest casting technique that is used to manufacture consumer, commercial and industrial products include automobiles, toys, gears, parts of sink faucet, connector housing etc.Benefits include:

Tighter tolerances

Variable wall thicknesses
Reduction in material scrap
Fewer steps from raw material to finished part
Fast production cycle times
Long tool life, especially for zinc and magnesium
